The goal | Students should get acquainted with the principles, possibilities and limitations of radiological, ultrasound and endoscope diagnostics. During the course the students will acquire the skills needed to analyze and interpret the obtained images in order to disclose the existing pathological processes and offer a valid and true diagnosis. | |||
The outcome | Students will master the art of imaging; recognize and analyze the pathological changes present on a x-ray film,; will know how to perform an ultrasound examination; will interpret the obtained US images and make a diagnosis based upon them; will obtain the skills needed to perform endoscopy; take tissue samples by endoscopy. | |||

Contents of lectures | X-ray features and their interaction with matter (2). Roentgen cabinet and equipment (2). Geometry of the radiological image. Tissue shadows (1). Roendgenoscopy, rendgenography, native images, contrast imaging, elements of Rö anatomy, physiology and pathology (3). Prevention and protection from ionizing radiations (1). Rö diagnostics of diseases of the respiratory and cardiovascular system (3), urogenital (3), digestive (5) and skeletal system (5). Forensic Rö diagnostics (1). Physical features of ultrasound, ultrasound equipment (3). Interpretation of an ultrasound image and artifacts (3). Liver, spleen, pancreas, kidneys and adrenals, urethra and bladder ultrasound (6). Echocardiography (2). Endoscopy imaging and endoscopic examination of the digestive and respiratory systems (5). | |||

Methods of teaching | Power Point presentations for each lecture. A collection of several hundred X-ray radiographs for performing practical lessons, as well as working with sick animals in the Cabinet for ultrasound and endoscopic diagnostics. | |||
