The goal | To ensure basic knowledge about modern methods of investigation enabling students for a rapid approach to professional problems, for planning and realization of investigations needed and moreover for presenting results and publishing articles. | |||
The outcome | Students should be enabled to independently create and conduct investigations and trials, to explain obtained results and to prepare them for presenting on meetings or for publishing in professional or scientific journals. | |||

Contents of lectures | Selection of topic or problem for investigations. Experiment and investigations. Professional and scientific problem – definition and types. Use of computers in investigations. Basis of scientific and professional informatics, internet explorers, scientific and professional databases, approach to databases and documents downloading. Introduction to statistics, ways of data collection, elements of statistics, descriptive parameters, significance of differences and basic methods for their calculation. Investigations in clinical pathology and therapy of animals. Basic clinical disciplines. Types of clinical investigations. Compatibility of animal species. Planning and realization of clinical investigations. Pharmacological investigations. Epizootically based investigations. Classical – standard sources of scientific and professional information. Fate of professional and scientific information. Paper publishing. Constituents of professional articles and specialist thesis. Writing of professional reports. Elements of text writing and editing, saving documents. Ways of reference listing. Language check and corrections (correction symbols). The most frequent mistakes in writing professional articles.
