The goal | The aims of preventive veterinary medicine are to acquire knowledge, about diagnostics, treatment and control of infectious and parasitic zoonoses as well as preventive measures, divided into teaching thematic blocks. | |||
The outcome | Students should understand: laboratory diagnostic procedures for infectious diseases; to understand: the principles of prevention and control of infectious and parasitic diseases, prescribed diagnostic procedures, make appropriate reports, to plan and implement actions and actions in the prevention and treatment of infectious animal diseases. | |||

Contents of lectures | Vaccination, Infectious diseases diagnostics, Parasitic zoonoze diagnostics, Veterinary preventive measures, National and EU regulation on animal infectious diseases, Housing and care of commercial animals, Housing and care of domestic, exotic and laboratory animals | |||
Contents of exercises | Vaccine applications, post-vaccine immunity control, efficacy and toxicity testing. Sampling of field materials, packaging, transportation and delivery for microbiological analysis. Sampling, packaging and sending materials for diagnostics of parasitic zoonoses of protozoan and helminth etiology. Practical work on the implementation of preventive measures. | |||

Methods of teaching | Classes will be organized in the Faculty's lecture rooms, laboratories and clinics, through a series of coherent thematic blocks. Theoretical teaching is based on lectures using illustrated and interactive material, as well as archived medical records of faculty clinics. | |||
