The goal | To acquire knowledge on basic principles of the infectology and epizootiology as well as specific characteristics concerning particular infectious diseases of animals. To get knowledge on infectious elements and crafts that are important for self reliance and safe work with infectious agents in the field as well as in laboratory. | |||
The outcome | Student has to acquire knowledge of etiology, epizootiology, pathogenesis, symptoms, post mortem analysis, pathohistology, treatment and prophylaxis, as well as to take sample that is necessary for laboratory diagnosis, to be able to define objective suspicious case, especially those diseases that could pose important socio-economical threat to the country, as well as zoonoses. Student should understand procedure for reporting, differential diagnosis, therapy and treatment, prophylaxis as well as measures to be taken in case of infectious diseases outbreak. | |||

Contents of lectures | Theoretical: general epizootiology, basics in epizootiology, control for the infection diseases and epizootics, , methods for the protection of epizootics, contingency plan formation, bioterrorism, bacterial diseases caused by bacteria: (Clostridia spp, Salmonella, Brucella spp, Mycoplasma spp, antraks, glanders, melioidisis, boreliosis, ulcerative limphangitis, African swine fever, African maleus, pastereloza, dourine, leptospirosis, borreliozas, psitacosis, tularema, listeiozis, ! fever, erysipelas, horse infectious metritis. Poxviridae, picornaviridae, reoviridae, herpesviridae, bunyaviridame, retrovirade, paramyxovirus, rhabdoviruses, arteriviruses, coronaviruses, orthomyxoviridae, asfaviridae, caliciviridae, parvoviridae, prions. | |||
Contents of exercises | sampling methods, transport of the samples, inoculation to the laboratory animals, serological methods, epizootical investigation and analysis, methods of diagnosis: anthrax, erysipelas, pasteurellosis, brucellosis, salmonellosis, leptospirosis, borreliosis, dourine, glanders, rabies, Morbus Aujeszky, pox virus infection, Newcastle, Foot-and-mouth disease, complement fixation, ELISA, analysis of diagnostic tests results. | |||
