The goal | Introduction with theoretical and practical aspects of the specific organ systems surgery and practicing surgical techniques necessary for clinical practice and independent solving common problems. | |||
The outcome | The student needs to know the surgical operating methods and techniques on different tissues and different organs. He can review and prepare the patient for surgery, assist or independent do basic surgical procedures, treatment and sew up the wound, do: castration, laparotomy, ovariectomy, knows principles of trauma treatment of the bone-joint system and hoof. | |||

Contents of lectures | Surgery: soft tissue, chest and the upper respiratory tract , oral cavity and the teeth, GIT and perianal region, hernia, urogenital system. CVS and NS . Endocrine system (2), Musculoskeletal and hoof. Care of injuries and diseases of the bone-joint system, osteosynthesis. Ophthalmology . Oncologic Surgery | |||
Contents of exercises | Abscess and hematoma ; Surgical removal of the horns, Oncological surgery. Tracheotomy and tonsillectomy, teeth surgery. Laparotomy and Ruminotomy, gastrothomy, bowel resection, prolapse of the rectum. Surgery on the hooves and hoof , orthopedic shoeing, castration, castration complications , ovariectomy, hysterectomy, uretrothomy, osteosynthesis . | |||

Methods of teaching | Theory lessons with interactive learning, with the use of audio-visual methods (PowerPoint presentations, movies), practical exercises on healthy and sick animals and practical work at the Surgery Clinic, in veterinary clinics, farms and racetrack. | |||
