    The goalAcquiring knowledge of general principles of surgery, aseptic techniques and antiseptics, review and prepare animals for surgery, operative techniques and complications.
    The outcomeThe student should know and apply: basic surgical principles, instruments and equipment, basic operating techniques, review and prepare animal for surgery, hemostasis, processing and stitching wounds, treatment in case of complications.

    Contents of lecturesIntroduction to general surgery, surgical examination of animals and diagnostics (2). Basic surgical method (2). Instruments, materials, sewing and stitching (2). Hemostasis and bleeding (2). Infections in surgery, asepsis and antisepsis (2). Injuries (2). Wounds, abscesses, hematoma (2). Homeostasis (2). Compensation fluid, parenteral nutrition (4). Introduction to the surgery of the musculoskeletal system (4). Introduction to the eye surgery (4). Introduction into tumor surgery (2).
    Contents of exercisesSurgical examination of the animals, fixing and restraint of animals (4). Principles of surgical diagnostics, diagnosis of lameness, ophthalmology diagnosis (4). Preparing of the patient and surgical team (4). Surgical instruments, preparation (2). Basic surgical techniques, bandaging materials (6). Technique and sewing kits, surgical sutures (4). Treatment of wounds, abscesses, hematomas, cysts (4). Principles of the tumor surgery (2).
